Alhambra, California won a 2024 Childhood Obesity Prevention and Environmental Health and Sustainability Award for the San Gabriel Valley Regional Food Recovery Program. The initiative diverts unused food from restaurants, stores and institutions from landfills and provides it to residents of the communities just east of Los Angeles. The grant program is a partnership between the US Conference of Mayors and the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America.
