Funding research to create a safe, resilient and sustainable future along the Gulf of Mexico
This month marks the 10th anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Academies of Sciences’ Gulf Research Program (GRP) was created as part of the resulting legal settlement to fund research along the Gulf to protect the environment, improve offshore energy safety, and enhance the resiliency of its communities.
GVI produced a series of videos for the GRP that show the depth and breadth of that research. We filmed all along the Gulf of Mexico and created 22 videos on projects, partnerships, events, and reports the GRP has supported. The videos fell under the broad categories of Environmental Protection and Stewardship, Health and Community Resilience, and Offshore Energy Safety. Here are a few of our favorites:
